Common Effort Community

Organizations coming from government, civil society, police, military and private sector in Germany and the Netherlands launched the Common Effort Community.
Being established in 2015, more than 50 organizations are building the community by today.
Project Lighthouse Africa is a proud and especially active member.

The Common Effort Community is specializing on fragile states and its issues, like Protection of Civilians (PoC), Human Security and Stability, Development, Capacity Building and Humanitarian Aid.

The founding civil and military organizations and observers of this Community agreed in their Joint Statement to contribute to a safe and secure world in which men and women live with dignity enjoying their universal human rights.

Institute for Media and Communication Studies

The Institute for Media and Communication Studies of Freie Universität Berlin is partnering with PLA on several projects.
Communication science at Freie Universität Berlin is dedicated to the various aspects of human and public communication.

Ten divisions of the institute with different foci in research and teaching provide theoretical background and empirical knowledge in journalism, organizational communication, media content and effects, communication policy, media economics, media use research, history of communication, and social science research methods.

OTH Regensburg is currently supporting Project Lighthouse Africa with the implementation of the concept “Narrative Management for Peace through Dialogue (NAMA4PD)”, to build up and strengthen resilience against destabilizing propaganda and disinformation in the Sahel region.

With over 11,000 students, the OTH is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Germany. More than 50 practice-oriented Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in the fields of technology, business, social sciences, health, architecture and design, distinguish themselves through high quality teaching and research.

In cooperation with some 265 companies, the OTH Regensburg also offers a wide range of dual study programmes. Cooperations with industry in the region play a major role in teaching and research.

ACE Communications Executive

ACE Communications Executive (ACE) is a communications management, training and multimedia consultancy firm in the Gambia.
In close collaboration with Project Lighthouse Gambia, ACE Communications Executive developed and executed the first Advanced ICT Training (AICTT) Camp in the Gambia.

The AICTT Camp offered 80 young ICT professionals from Ghana, Nigeria and The Gambia had the opportunity to advance their theoretical and practical knowledge in ICT. Within 3 weeks the camp did put a special focus on local ICT challenges and opportunities in areas that are current and relevant. Most especially, aligned with strategic priorities for public governance, private sector growth and entrepreneurship within the ICT sector of West Africa.

ACE as the Gambian communications expert agency is focused on meeting the growing communications demand for business and public institutions across the West African.

The civil society NGO Action Humaine pour le Développement Intégré au Sénégal (AHDIS) partners with Project Lighthouse Africa (PLA) in implementing the concept “Narrative Management for Peace through Dialogue (NAMA4PD)” in the Republic of Senegal.

AHDIS has set itself the mission of contributing to the economic and social development of Senegal by setting up programs.
It seeks to promote sustainable local development through support for grassroots community initiatives to improve their living conditions in rural and urban areas.

DBO, a registered international NGO in the Gambia, is supporting educational, medical and social projects in the Gambia. The goal of their commitment is to empower people to help themselves.

Project Lighthouse Gambia and DBO agreed already in 2012 on a close collaboration. Defined goals are fostering and implementing of joint environmental protection, waste management and public awareness projects in the Gambia.

Several joint projects have since helped improving life in three selected communities. Mainly but not only by improving the waste situation and its handling in the respective areas. E.g. a systematic collection and separation of organic and other waste has been introduced to the Gambia for the first time.
