First part of the NAMA4PD training course began in Oussouye (Casamance)
On 6 January 2025. Six women and eight men were selected from a group of twenty people who had applied for the training programme. At the end of their training, they will be able to independently conduct anti-disinformation training courses as multipliers.
During the five days of this first training block, three modules were on the agenda:
- Module 1 taught the basics of the importance of media for democratic societies
- Module 2 explained forms of misinformation, disinformation and propaganda and, through practical exercises, taught skills for recognising and verifying disinformation
- Module 3 taught basic skills in journalistic methods for gathering, verifying and processing information in various media forms.
The skill levels achieved by the training participants were assessed with a final test on the last day of the training.
To give participants the opportunity to reflect on what they had learned and put it into practice in a timely manner, this first part of the workshop ended with an ideas competition in which participants were asked to develop concepts for implementing training programmes in their personal environment that would enable them to use their skills effectively against the spread of disinformation.
An evaluation of the competition and selection of a winning concept was scheduled for the second training block in March 2025.
