In August 2014, PLA and SOS Children’s Villages Bakoteh, as the directly affected organisation, agreed to cooperate as project partners in the landfill gas CHP and waste management project in Bakoteh. A memorandum of understanding is about to be signed. The SOS facilities are to be connected directly to the CHP plant and thus receive a stable, green and more favourable energy supply. In the future, there are plans to set up a training programme for environmental technicians at the SOS vocational training centre.
In preparation for the collaboration at project level, Matthias Duchscherer and Dr Yves Lamour conducted a two-week study in September 2014 to determine the energy requirements and consumption of the SOS facilities in Bakoteh. PLA submitted the eleven-page preliminary final report to the SOS management in Bakoteh in December 2014.
