Supply secured in the long conflict-ridden region
In the sensitive border region between Senegal and Guinea-Bissau, Project Lighthouse Africa e.V. has successfully installed another solar-powered hybrid drinking water system with a connected pipe network.
For years, the region was severely affected by refugee movements in connection with the long-standing armed conflict in Casamance. Communities near the border in particular suffered from lack of infrastructure, insecurity and limited access to basic services.
Resilience through reliable infrastructure
The new system has:
- Created a stable drinking water supply
- Improved living conditions in vulnerable communities
- Supported the return and reintegration of families
- Contributed to sustainable peacekeeping
This system is also operating with solar energy and is designed to be operated and maintained locally in the long term.
WASH as part of an integrated resilience approach
Our water projects are part of a broader concept that links infrastructure, economic development and social stability.
Conflict-affected regions in particular demonstrate that reliable access to clean water is a fundamental building block for peace, dignity and future prospects.
