- [Kooperation zwischen dem Projekt Lighthouse Gambia und der Dresden Banjul Organisation (DBO)](https://prolightafrica.org/collaboration-prolightgambia-dbo/): Sukuta – Im August 2012 haben Project Lighthouse Gambia und die Dresden Banjul Organisation (DBO) eine enge Zusammenarbeit vereinbart, um gemeinsame Projekte in den Bereichen Umweltschutz, Abfallmanagement und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit in Gambia zu fördern und umzusetzen. DBO ist als registrierte internationale NGO in Gambia tätig. Die Organisation engagiert sich in Schul-, Gesundheits- und anderen gesellschaftlich relevanten Projekten. Eine der Hauptaktivitäten ist die “Operation Feed the People”, bei der DBO Lebensmittel an arme Menschen in Krankenhäusern verteilt. Aufgrund der angepassten Ziele der DBO wird sich die Organisation in nachhaltigen und langfristigen Projekten engagieren, wie z.B. in Programmen zur Sensibilisierung der Öffentlichkeit.

- [Abfallstrom-Datenbank an KMC übergeben](https://prolightafrica.org/waste-flow-database-presented/): Kanifing – Im Juni 2012 stellten Matthias Duchscherer, Präsident von Project Lighthouse Africa, und Dr. Yves Lamour von der University of the Gambia dem Gemeinderat von Kanifing auf dessen Plenarsitzung die ersten Analyseergebnisse der erstellten Datenbank für Abfallströme vor. Das Projekt Lighthouse Gambia und KMC überarbeiten und verbessern derzeit die Datenerhebung, um Verzerrungsfaktoren zu reduzieren. Als erste derartige Organisation hat Project Lighthouse Africa in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Abfallwirtschaftsbehörde des Stadtrats von Kanifing eine Datenbank für das Volumen und den Fluss des im Gebiet des Stadtrats von Kanifing anfallenden Abfalls erstellt.
- [Waste flow database presented to KMC](https://prolightafrica.org/waste-flow-database-presented/): Kanifing – In June 2012 Matthias Duchscherer, President of Project Lighthouse Africa, and Dr. Yves Lamour, University of the Gambia, presented first analytic results of the established waste flow database to Kanifing Municipal Council during their plenary meeting. Currently Project Lighthouse Gambia and KMC are revising and enhancing the data collection for reducing bias factors. As the first such organization Project Lighthouse Africa has established, in close cooperation with the Waste Management Department of Kanifing Municipal Council, a valid database for the volume and the flow of waste, generated in the KMC area.

Il s’agissait du troisième atelier sur la construction et l’utilisation de toilettes à compostage pour améliorer l’assainissement local.

- [Arbeitsgruppe mit Wissenschaftlern der Universität Gambia](https://prolightafrica.org/interdisciplinary-working-group/): Project Lighthouse Africa e.V. konzentriert sich auf Umweltmanagement, Umweltschutz und Abfallbehandlung und hat 2012 eine Zusammenarbeit mit der University of the Gambia (UTG) begonnen. - [Chefingenieur inspiziert Mülldeponie](https://prolightafrica.org/chief-engineer-inspects-landfill/): Bakoteh – Im Auftrag von Project Lighthouse Africa e.V. führte der leitende Ingenieur Dipl.-Ing. Klaus-Arno Herzberg Ende 2011 eine erste Untersuchung und Messung des Gaspotenzials der Mülldeponie Bakoteh durch. Gespräche auf hoher Ebene mit Vertretern des KMC und Besuche des neu errichteten Fischmarktes ergänzten die Untersuchung. Die Bewertung und Potenzialabschätzung von Herrn Herzberg für die weitere Entwicklung im Zusammenhang mit dem Deponieprojekt fiel positiv aus. Dieses international tätige Ingenieurbüro verfügt über umfangreiche Erfahrung in der Entwicklung von CDM- und Umweltprojekten, der Sanierung von Mülldeponien sowie der Planung, Umsetzung und Kontrolle von Projekten im Bereich erneuerbare Energien.
- [Chief Engineer inspects landfill](https://prolightafrica.org/chief-engineer-inspects-landfill/): Bakoteh – On behalf of Project Lighthouse Africa e.V. Lead Engineer Dipl.-Ing. Klaus-Arno Herzberg carried out a first survey and measure¬ment of gas potential of the Waste Disposal Site Bakoteh at the end of 2011. High level talks with KMC representatives and visits of the newly constructed fish market supplemented the survey. Mr Herzberg’s evaluation and potential assessment for further development in relation to the landfill project was positive. This engineering consultancy operates internationally and has extensive experience in the development of CDM and Environmental projects, reclamation of Waste Disposal sites, as well planning, realization, and control of Renewable Energy projects.

- [CDM-Projekt in Bakoteh: Absichtserklärung zwischen Project Lighthouse Africa/Gambia und KMC](https://prolightafrica.org/mou-prolightafrica-kmc/): Kanifing – Mit der gemeinsamen Unterzeichnung der Absichtserklärung zwischen dem Gemeinderat von Kanifing, Project Lighthouse Gambia und Project Lighthouse Africa e.V. wurde der Grundstein für das Projekt zur Nutzung von Deponiegas in einem Blockheizkraftwerk (BHKW) auf der Bakoteh-Deponie in Gambia gelegt. Das Projekt wird in der Gemeinde Kanifing durchgeführt, in der mehr als ein Drittel der Bevölkerung Gambias lebt und die das Wirtschaftszentrum des westafrikanischen Landes darstellt. Das Heizkraftwerk wird zu einer stabileren und ökologisch verantwortungsvolleren Stromversorgung für die Bevölkerung und Wirtschaft Gambias beitragen.
- [CDM project at Bakoteh: MoU between Project Lighthouse Africa / Gambia and KMC](https://prolightafrica.org/mou-prolightafrica-kmc/): Kanifing – With the joint signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between Kanifing Municipality Council, Project Lighthouse Gambia and Project Lighthouse Africa e.V. the foundation has been laid for the landfill gas combined heat and power (CHP) unit project at Bakoteh landfill in the Gambia. The project will be implemented in the Kanifing Municipality which represents more than 1/3 of Gambia’s population and which is the economy centre of the West African country. The CHP will contribute to a more stable and ecological responsible power supply to Gambia’s population and economy.
